I first bought my KitchenAid stand mixer in 1978 and it is still in use as a hand-me-down to to my son. As I spring forward I purchased a new KitchenAid Professional 600 series Onyx standmixer. 03/2009. In 2011 I had my first clutch problem and it cost $170.00 to repair.
While I was there at the authorized Repair center 2 other owners came in with the same problem and like myself, had been long time users of KitchenAid stand mixers. And now this is 2014 and 09/17/2014 it overheated and shutdown. My principal usage is baking bread, Same as it was in 1978. And generally I’m kneading 9 to 11 cups of flour and I really don’t trust this mixer or this brand anymore. After OVERHEATING; I re-started the mixer and now it’s making a strange sound sort of like it’s missing a gear. I don’t know what went wrong but this is obviously not the same quality I trusted so well in 1978
